“The difference between the almost right word
& the right word is really a large matterit's the
difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”

~ Mark Twain, Letter to George Bainton, 1888 ~

With an eye for detail and a strong interest in grammar and vocabulary, I work to ensure words and sentences reflect my clients' intended meaning.

I have experience in substantive, stylistic, and copy editing, as well as in proofreading. In 2007, I earned the credential of Certified Proofreader through the Editors' Association of Canada (EAC).

I am very active in the EAC, currently serving on the national executive as member at large. For the association's 2006 conference, I organized and moderated a panel discussion on Copyright in the 21st Century. In 2007, I took part in two panel presentations: an entertaining debate on punctuation and the closing plenary session on editing rates. In 2008, I'll be participating in a panel presentation entitled, Swinging both ways: Editors who write.

My current and former editing/proofreading clients include:

  • Canada Wide Magazines and Communications, Ltd./Tourism British Columbia—copyeditor/proofreader of British Columbia 2005 Outdoor Adventure Guide, British Columbia 2005 Vacation Planner
  • Canadian Bar Association—web editor for Dial-a-Law
  • Canadian Paediatric Society—co-producer of newsletter for four-day annual conference
